Abstract

The family of school-age children is a stage of family development that begins when the oldest child enters school at the age of 6 years and ends at the age of 12 years. At the elementary school age stage, it is an ideal time to train a child's motor skills. The ability to brush teeth properly and correctly is an important factor for maintaining teeth and mouth. It is very important to teach and implement good dental care during the elementary school age period, this is because permanent teeth that emerge during the school age period require good dental hygiene and regular attention. The aim of this case study is education to improve tooth brushing skills in school age children.
This type of research is descriptive using a case study approach method. The subject in this case was 1 family with school-aged children in the Gondangrejo Health Center working area, Wonorejo Village. The study results show that in recognizing the problem, clients do not know how to brush their teeth properly and correctly. The nursing action carried out, namely health education on the skill level of school-age children, was carried out 5 times at home. From the action, it was found that there was an increase in tooth brushing skills in school-age children. Research recommendations for dental health education using interactive video media can improve teeth brushing skills in school-aged children.
