Abstract

Patient safety event reporting is an important mechanism for identifying, analyzing, and preventing medical errors and events that may harm patients. Until now there are still obstacles in reporting patient safety incidents. The purpose of writing this article is to discuss further the importance of reporting patient safety incidents in hospitals. Community service activities in the form of outreach were carried out on September 5 2023. The outreach was carried out in the Training Room of a Private Hospital in Jakarta. Session 1 is held at 10.00 – 12.00 WIB and Session 2 is held at 14.00 – 16.00 WIB. The number of participants taking part in the activity was 55 people. The knowledge of participants who took part in the socialization regarding reporting patient safety incidents increased by 76.3%. Participant knowledge refers to the level of understanding or knowledge possessed by the participant. Participants' knowledge includes their understanding of concepts, procedures, and the importance of incident reporting related to patient safety. Reporting helps identify patient safety issues that might otherwise be overlooked. In this way, the root causes of patient safety events can be uncovered and addressed. Continuous reporting can help build a culture of safety in hospitals and healthcare facilities, where staff feel comfortable reporting incidents and are willing to learn from mistakes. There needs to be an effort to increase awareness among health staff about the importance of reporting patient safety events.
