Promosi Tentang Flouride Dalam Upaya Mencegah Terjadinya Karies Gigi Anak

Abstract

Dental caries is an important problem for Primary School children, because in addition to causing complaints of pain, it also spreads the infection to other parts of the body resulting in decreased productivity. This condition will reduce the child's frequency of attendance to school, impair learning concentration, affect appetite and food intake so as to affect nutritional status and result in impaired physical growth. The purpose of the activity is to raise maternal attention to preventive efforts that support dental and oral health in children and improve the understanding of information about flouride in order to prevent the occurrence of dental caries in children. Community service was conducted at RW 07, Labuang Baji in September 2022. The activity was carried out in the form of a promotion about fluoride in the mothers of the PKK. The target number of 50 mothers of PKK members. Devotion method using leaflets about fluoride as a promotional medium to increase the mother's understanding of flouride knowledge. Assessment of the level of knowledge carried out with questionnaires before and after the promotion was carried out showed that there is between the level of knowledge of the mother before and after the promotion. The conclusion of this activity is that promotion using leaflet media about flouride can increase the knowledge of mothers in an effort to prevent the occurrence of dental caries in children with an increase in the level of maternal knowledge by 1.64% after the promotion.
