Penyuluhan Pemanfaatan Larutan Jeruk Nipis Sebagai Obat Kumur Untuk Pengobatan Gingivitis Pada Remaja

Abstract

Plaque control efforts can be done with mouthwash. The use of mouthwash is proven to inhibit plaque formation quickly and easily. Chemical substances used Decreased dental plaque can occur because lime contains alkaloids that function as anti-bacterial. Lime also contains plavanoids and essential oils that have strong antimicrobial activity. The composition of lime (Citrus aurantifolia) is in accordance with research on the effect of essential oils from several medicinal plants in Indonesia on biofolm (Streptococcus mutans, which found essential oil from oranges can inhibit planktonic growth, so it has the potential to be developed as an inhibitor of dental plaque because it has anti-bacterial activity. The Devotion Method is the empowerment of adolescents in the manufacture of lime solution as a gingivitis remedy. Initial data collection was carried out by FGD to the target of community service, namely adolescents about the use of traditional medicine to prevent and treat Gingivitis. The results of the FGD said that 85% of adolescents experienced bleeding and symptoms of gingivitis, while 100% of respondents had never known and had never used lime solution as a traditional medicine to treat gingivitis. Furthermore, education and tutorials on making lime solution as an alternative treatment for gingivitis were carried out. After education, an evaluation was carried out, namely by observing adolescents at the time of making lime solution and 100% of adolescents can make lime solution for the treatment of gingivitis.
